Holy Cross Hosts High School Fair

Holy Cross School, an Independence Mission School located in the heart of Mt. Airy, hosted a High School
Spirit Day on Tuesday, April 25 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. for their middle school students and families. The purpose of this event was to bring joy to the typically stressful high school selection process. Students and families had the opportunity to meet high school admissions directors while completing a high school bingo game and other fun activities that encouraged them to ask questions and show what they’ve learned about the high schools at the fair.

Eighth grade students showcased and celebrated the high schools they will be attending in the fall by wearing the “swag” or colors of their chosen schools, many of which were present. Even the teachers and staff joined in on the fun by wearing their own high school paraphernalia and colors and helping host a raffle and a Draw-the-Hawk (the new Holy Cross mascot!) contest.

Hospitality tables featured representatives from local high schools including Germantown Friends, Abington Friends, Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, Cristo Rey High School, Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, Roman Catholic, Merion Mercy Academy, and St. Joseph’s Preparatory School. Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia also attended to share summer opportunities for students.

Light refreshments including Philly soft pretzels were provided and with the addition of some music and joys of a long-awaited Spring, the fair was truly a celebration and made the introduction to the High School Selection process fun and memorable.
