Holy Cross School – The Choice for Achievement
A Message from Holy Cross Principal Rosalie Doherty
Holy Cross students excel compared to local and national achievement data. At a time when learning loss caused by the pandemic is still a challenge throughout the nation and the world, Holy Cross students show strong growth. From fall 2021 to fall 2022 in grades 3-8, as measured by NWEA MAP testing:
• Our literacy percentile increased by 14 points compared to national scores increasing by .5 point.
• Our math percentile increased by 7.7 points compared to national scores increasing by 2.7 points.
Locally, schools may still be reporting pre-pandemic achievement data, while Holy Cross students’ current growth indicates recovery after the pandemic.
High expectations lead to high aspirations. Most Holy Cross students are accepted into the high schools of their choice, and many earn significant scholarships. Holy Cross graduates go on to schools such as Merion Mercy Academy, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, La Salle College High School, and Archdiocesan high schools.
